SMS Consent & Messaging Policy

Published by Missed Call Audit

Missed Call Audit sends automated SMS text messages to help service businesses recover missed calls. This page explains how consent is obtained, what messages are sent, and how recipients can opt out.

No phone numbers are submitted through this website. Customers do not enter their mobile number on MissedCallAudit.com. A customer's mobile phone number is obtained only when they voluntarily initiate an inbound call to a participating business's phone number. The inbound call itself is the affirmative action that establishes the customer's interest and consent to be contacted by SMS.

ISV / Reseller Model

Missed Call Audit acts as a technology platform and service provider that enables participating businesses to send customer communications via Twilio-powered messaging infrastructure. Each participating business is the messaging brand and sender of record for communications sent to its own customers; Missed Call Audit provides the underlying automation, subaccount provisioning, and compliance infrastructure. Missed Call Audit is not the direct messaging brand for communications sent by a business to that business's own customers.

Each business is provisioned with its own dedicated Twilio subaccount, phone number, Messaging Service, and applicable A2P 10DLC registration. The Twilio ISV (Independent Software Vendor) architecture is:

MCA Parent Account → ISV Primary Compliance Profile → Client Subaccount → Client Secondary Compliance Profile → Client A2P Brand → Client Campaign → Client Messaging Service → Client Dedicated Number
  • Messaging brand: The participating business, not Missed Call Audit, is the sender of record for all customer communications.
  • Number source: Customer phone numbers originate from inbound calls placed directly to the participating business — not from purchased, scraped, or third-party marketing lists.
  • Message content: Missed-call recovery messages relate directly to the customer's inbound inquiry to the business.
  • Data handling: Missed Call Audit may process messaging data on behalf of its business customers solely to provide the contracted platform services. Mobile numbers, SMS consent information, and opt-in data are not sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes.
  • Controls enforced: STOP/HELP, opt-out suppression, and consent records are enforced for each business's subaccount.

How It Works

  1. 1A customer voluntarily calls the business's phone number. This inbound call is the opt-in — no sign-up form is submitted on our website.
  2. 2The call is missed (not answered).
  3. 3The platform sends a single automated SMS to the caller within 3–10 minutes, referencing the missed call.
  4. 4The SMS identifies the business by name, acknowledges the missed call, and includes a link where the caller can submit their service request. It also includes STOP/HELP instructions and a message-rate disclosure.
  5. 5The customer can reply STOP to opt out at any time. Once opted out, no further SMS messages are sent to that number.
  6. 6The customer can reply HELP for assistance and receives a response identifying the business and opt-out instructions.

Consent

Customers opt in by calling the business phone number. The inbound phone call is the affirmative action that demonstrates the customer's interest and consent to be contacted. In many cases, customers also leave a voicemail describing their needs, which further confirms their intent. When a call is missed, the system automatically sends an SMS reply as a direct response to the customer's inbound call (and any voicemail left). No messages are sent to people who have not first called the business.

Consent language: "By calling this number, you agree that the business may contact you by SMS regarding your inquiry, including if we miss your call. Message & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time."

Message frequency varies. Typically, one SMS message is sent per missed call, in direct response to the customer's inbound call. No recurring, scheduled, periodic, or promotional messages are sent via SMS. Subsequent automated recovery messaging follows the applicable consent status: if a customer has opted out (STOP), no further messages are sent; if consent remains in place, the single recovery message is delivered.

Message and data rates. Message and data rates may apply. The platform does not charge recipients for SMS messages; standard carrier messaging rates apply.

Sample Message

"Sorry we missed your call — this is [Business Name]. Tell us what you need here: [link] Reply STOP to opt out. Msg & data rates may apply."

The message identifies the business, references the missed call, and includes an opt-out instruction and message-rate disclosure on every message.

Opt-Out & Help

  • Reply STOP to any message to opt out of receiving future SMS from the business. The opt-out is logged and all future messages to that number are suppressed.
  • Reply HELP for assistance. The system responds with a message identifying the business, the message-rate disclosure, and opt-out instructions.
  • Message and data rates may apply. Standard carrier rates apply.
  • Message frequency varies. No recurring or promotional messages are sent.
Opt-out requests are processed automatically: replying STOP is logged by the platform and suppresses all future messages to that number. Twilio also enforces carrier-level opt-out handling. Once a number opts out, no further messages will be sent to that number.

Data Sharing

Mobile phone numbers, SMS opt-in information, and messaging consent data are not sold, shared, rented, or provided to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers collected for missed-call recovery are used solely to send the recovery message and to honor opt-out requests.

Compliance Details

  • Opt-in trigger: Inbound call to a participating business's phone number. No web form or keyword opt-in is used.
  • Message delay: The recovery SMS is sent within 3–10 minutes of the missed call (configurable per business; default 3 minutes).
  • Message content: Identifies the business by name, references the missed call, includes a smart link, and contains STOP/HELP instructions and a message-rate disclosure.
  • Frequency: One message per missed call. No recurring, scheduled, or promotional messages.
  • Opt-out enforcement: STOP replies are logged and all future messages to that number are suppressed in the dispatcher. Twilio carrier-level opt-out also applies.
  • HELP handling: HELP replies receive a response identifying the business, the message-rate disclosure, and opt-out instructions.
  • Data handling: Phone numbers are obtained only via the inbound call and are not sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing.

For Businesses Using the Platform

Opt-in is established by the inbound call itself — no separate sign-up step is required. Each recovery SMS is a direct response to the customer's inbound call (and any voicemail left). The required consent disclosure for inbound callers is:

"By calling this number, you agree that the business may contact you by SMS regarding your inquiry, including if we miss your call. Message & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time."

No messages are sent to people who have not first called the business. This opt-in flow satisfies A2P 10DLC consent requirements.
